Japan is known for creating things of both beauty and usefulness – we think that the bento box and all that you can craft for it is a perfect expression of Japanese sensibility. You will love our unique selection of items for kids and adults. And while we love the bento box we will offer you other uniquely Japanese items that you can’t readily find elsewhere.

In Japan
Located in Japan, we are a husband and wife team of Japanese and Canadian origins. Sofia moved to Japan 15 years ago and fell in love with everything from the paper to the pottery and the whole culture of crafting - and then she fell in love with a Japanese man. Her husband, Futoshi is responsible for the marketing and promotion of the site as well as the addition of new listings every time Sofia finds something new to love from Japan. Things are helped along greatly by Michiyo-san who provides packing assistance – when you receive your purchase you will see the care and unique flare she brings to her role. We are continually receiving praise for her packing expertise – you really do receive your items from Japan with love.

In Los Angeles
Located in Los Angeles, but partnered with us is Claire (long-time friend to Sofia, when both were in Canada). Claire is mom to two daughters and adamant that they grow up eating real food, not packaged convenience items from the refrigerator section of the grocery store passing for “food”. She packs lunches daily and knows the tricks for making a healthy lunch appealing and kid-friendly. She brings from-japan-with-love to life in LA with in-home bento buying parties. *** Care and Use of Your Items ***
Hand wash in warm soapy water. Heating in plastic containers is generally not advisable. Packages marked with temperate ranges will show freezer and/or microwave allowances, however, bento lunches are eaten cold in Japan and the same should be true elsewhere.
*** Plastic in Japan ***
Japan has been ahead of the US and many other countries with regards to food and plastic, cutting down the use of BPA a full decade before discussion started in most places. The parts of plastic bento boxes that touch food are manufactured using 3 types of plastic: polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polypropylene (PP), or a compound of PET and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) called PET-A all of which are BPA free. You can feel good about using these items properly over and over again – the eco-friendly nature of bento items is a big part of their appeal (and they are so cute and pretty!).
*** Shipping Information ***
We ship worldwide, so regardless of your home country you can shop with us. If you want to calculate the shipping cost just add items to your cart and click "checkout" (don't worry-you haven't bought anything yet). On the next page you will fill out your shipping information and choose your shipping area and then you can see how much the shipping will be. At this point, you can go back and change the items in your cart and it will still show you the shipping costs.
We want the packages to arrive in perfect condition and they have a long way to travel so we package all orders very carefully in order to ensure that they arrive to their destination just as they left us. At this time, all small packages will be sent “small package” air mail so tracking is not possible and there is no insurance.
Packages over 2kgs will have to go by EMS (express). – can you explain what ems is – tracking etc.
Large packages or odd shaped packages may have to be sent EMS.

All pricing is in US dollars and payment is made through PayPal only.
*** Refund, Returns and Cancellation Policies ***
While most packages arrive quickly and safely, the occasional package does take longer or get lost. If you have not received your package within 5 weeks, please contact us so can either refund you or replace the items.
